Mr. Allen Fetters - 4 - 14 December 2006
Since low-flow sampling will also be used for the deep wells, water surface elevations of the
deep wells should be recorded before and during purging in addition to recording field
sampling parameters in order to assure that formation water is sampled.
Summary
Regional Water Board staff conditionally concur with the Monitoring Well Installation Work
Plan provided Ripon Farm Service include the following measures:
• When obtaining samples from the deep wells, in addition to having field parameters
stabilized, the water surface elevation shall be comparable to pre-purge elevations.
• Installation of all monitoring wells shall be conducted to the satisfaction of San Joaquin
County Environmental Health Department.
• Low flow sampling techniques used for the off-site shallow wells shall be comparable to
those used for sampling the on-site shallow monitoring wells, to the extent practicable.
According to the schedule proposed in the Work Plan, a summary report could be prepared
about six weeks after the drilling is completed. Allowing for supplemental sampling and other
delays, please provide the Monitoring Well Installation Report by 23 February 2007. Ripon
Farm Service shall provide a follow-up work plan for characterization of nitrate and ammonium
in soil and groundwater by 30 March 2007.
If you have, bny quO.stions, you may contact me at (916) 464-4680.
AMY TERREL_L
Private Sites Cleanup Unit
cc: Mr. Matt Machado, City of Ripon, Ripon
Ms. Adrienne Ellsaesser, San Joaquin County Environmental Health Dept., Stockton
Ms. Vicki McCartney, San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department, Stockton
Mr. Joseph Spano, DHS Drinking Water Program, Stockton
Mr. Bud den Ouden, Ripon Farm Service, Ripon
Mr. Jeffrey Hawkins, Isola & Ruiz, LLP, Lodi
Mr. John Cooper, Genesis Engineering and Redevelopment, Ripon
Ms. Stacy Guthmiller, Herum Crabtree Brown, Stockton
