Out- f -service bulbs were removed from the yard and taken to
Roseville for co solidation and proper disposal in truckload lots. Union Pacific
recognized that rocess did not fully comply with rules governing generation and
handling of universal wastes, and has changed the recommended process. Our
current guidelines call for the electrical technicians to remove out -of -service
lamps from the fixtures, place them in pre -labeled containers for shipment to
Veolia Environmental Services. This prevents the storage of large quantities of
spent lamps, re uces the risk of lamp breakage in storage and handling and
maintains a corn liant record of the proper disposal process. Electrical
technicians wer informed of the new process at "toolbox" meetings and at their
2013 annual trai ing.
Item 902: Aeros I can accumulation containers.
