The <br />yar is situated approx. 1 mile east of I-5 in the San <br />Joa uin Valley. The rails are oriented approx. north- <br />sout . Yard boundaries are East Charter Way and <br />residential and commercial structures to the north. A <br />drainage ditch defines the approx. eastern boundary of <br />the yard, with residential structures and Airport Way <br />furter east. Walker Slough (Duck Creek) defines the <br />appr x. southern boundary of the Stockton Yd. The <br />wes side of the yard is bordered by mixed residential <br />and ndustrial properties. The nearest navigable water <br />is W Iker Slough, bordering the yard to the east and <br />sout and intersecting with French Camp Slough <br />appr x. 1-1/2 miles west of the yd. These waterways <br />drai into the San Joaquin River. The main purposes of <br />Stoc ton Yard are freight car repair and switching. Car <br />repair takes place at the repair track. Direct to <br />locomotive (DTL) engine fueling and locomotive service <br />activ ty takes place at drip pans VM -3 and within a <br />portion of the Diesel Shop VM -1. ACE leases a portion <br />of the Diesel Shop and associated areas (VM1-4) and <br />their contractor performs locomotive and passenger car <br />clean ng, service and repair in these areas. Drainage <br />from he diesel storage and diesel shop areas is <br />direc ed to the WWTP (IW -1).
