`ICTION PLAN Introduction The following sections describe th� procedures to be followed in the event of a major emergency involving hazardous waste at the Facility. The Emergency Coordinator or hist designated alternate will assess the hazardous waste emergency incident and determine if immediate notification of the local police/county sheriff, the City/County Fire Department and/or the State Highway Patrol is necessary to protect areas outside tfie facility or to obtain assistance with internal incident responses. Based on the history of hazardous waste generation and management prior to off-site disposal, it is not anticipated that an incident involving the release of hazardous waste at the facility.is likely to result in an impact to the adjacent community or the freeway. Action Plan - Hazardous Waste Release Threat to Areas Outside the Facility In the event that a release of hazardous waste may pose at threat to areas outside the facility or assistance is required to address the release within the facility, the Primary Emergency Coordinator will take one or more of the following steps: 1. If incident involves offsite release, serious injury, or threat thereof, notify the local police/county sheriff. (see emergency contact list) 2. Consult with the City/County F' Department Incident Commander (9-1-1) and the police/sheriff Office representative to decide whether, and to where, local areas6utside the Facility should be evacuated. a. Notify the state emergency auth 'rities and provide the following information: • your name and telephone n ber • the name and address of the Facility • the time of the incident • the'type of -incident (fire; a • the name and quantity of m tenial involved, to the extent known • the extent of injuries, if any • the possible hazards to hum health or the environment outside the plant 4. Notify the National Response C ter and provide the information listed in "3" above. S.
