Our scope of services for TO No. 89 is summarized below:
Pre-field Activities
Activities prior to implementation of field work are summarized below:
• A TO field meeting was conducted at each of the project locations on November 9, 2009.
Caltrans TO Manager Saiyed Ali and our Project Manager John Juhrend attended the meeting.
The purpose of the field meeting was to discuss the TO scope of services, identify and observe
the parcel boundaries and conditions, and mark potential soil borings locations for
Underground Service Alert(USA)notification.
• Prepare a health and safety plan (HSP) to provide guidelines on the use of personal protective
equipment and the health/safety procedures to be implemented during field activities. The HSP
will be reviewed and approved by a Certified Industrial Hygienist(CIH).
• Notify USA at least 48-hours prior to field work.
• Obtain a boring permit from the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department.
• Caltrans will request that maintenance utilities locate and mark buried Caltrans electrical
services.
• Retain Advanced Technologies Laboratories (ATL) to conduct soil sample chemical analyses
in accordance with requirements specified in this Workplan.
Field Activities
Proposed boring locations are indicated on Figures 2-1, 2-2, and 2-3. Additional boring may be
performed at locations determined by the Caltrans TO Manger. The following summarizes the
proposed boring locations:
• At Site #5, six borings will be advanced and sampled using direct-push technology. Each
boring will be advanced to a maximum depth of 3 feet or refusal, whichever occurs first.
• At Site #22, approximately six borings will be advanced to a maximum depth of 3 feet. Two
soil borings will be advanced to a maximum depth of 6 feet, or refusal, whichever occurs first.
• At Site #41, approximately six borings will be advanced to a maximum depth of 3 feet. Two
soil borings will be advanced to a maximum depth of 12 feet, or refusal, whichever occurs
first.
Groundwater occurs significantly deeper than the maximum planned investigation depth of 12 feet,
and therefore, groundwater sampling will not be performed.
Soil samples will be collected as follows:
• For 3-foot-deep holes, first sample will be taken from surface to one foot or as site-specific
conditions require and as directed by the Task Order Manager. The second sample should be
taken from the bottom of the third foot.
• For 6-and 12-foot deep holes, soil samples should be collected from every 2 feet below grade.
SR-99/Monitoring Stations,Task Order No.89 Caltrans Contract 06A1141,EA 10-OK3201
Project No.S9200-06-89 -2- November 17,2009
