y
Pacific Car Wash page 2
4405 Pacific Ave. Stockton
AGE noted that GWE results at a nearby UST site were successful at controlling the
migration of that petroleum plume and compared construction details with EW-1.
Discussions in the Report suggested that drilling procedures at the time of EW-1's
installation may have compromised the well's ability to recharge quickly. EHD
recommends that EW-1 be aggressively re-developed and the pumping test conducted
again. If new pumping data on the re-developed EW-1 supports the conclusion that
GWE can be a feasible option for removing petroleum from the ground water and
controlling the offsite migration of the plume, EHD will comment on the report of findings
of the second pump test. Please include a cost analysis/estimate to install and operate
a two-well GWE remedial alternative and a proposal for treating and disposing the
ground water produced by the GWE process in the report that is to be submitted to EHD.
Additional recommendations in the Report included interim soil vapor extraction (SVE) in
the areas of most intense vadose zone petroleum-impact(i.e. P-2 and P-3) in
conjunction with interim groundwater pump and treat remediation. EHD agrees that
SVE in the sandy zones at this site may be effective in reducing the concentrations of
petroleum in the vadose soils but will need to evaluate a feasibility study and pilot test for
SVE. Please submit a proposal for SVE testing and include residual vadose mass
estimates and well installation details.
Interim GWE and SVE is not approved at this time.
Please contact Mr. Infurna at (209) 468-3454 if you have any questions or you may
email him at minfurna(a-)sicehd.com.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environ ental Health Department
,jai[ 4z, ..
Michael J.
