23 April 2001 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 96-0229 <br /> Page 5 of 7 ` <br /> 3 1 PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES <br /> Applicable site assessment permits will be obtained from the PHS-EHD In addition, an update to <br /> the health and safety plan presently on-file will be prepared in accordance with Occupational Safety <br /> and Health Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National Institute for <br /> Occupational Safety and Health Administration, U S Coast Guard and U S Environmental <br /> Protection Agency, 1985) Prior to mobilization, the monitoring well location will be clearly marked <br /> and a utility clearance obtained through Underground Service Alert <br /> 3 2 CPT DRILLING AND GRAB GROUND WATER SAMPLE COLLECTION <br /> AGE proposes to drill six CPT soil borings at the site to define the vertical extent of hydrocarbon- <br /> impacted ground water Proposed CPT soil boring locations are illustrated in Figure 2 <br /> Based on MTBE-impact encountered during the previous investigation, AGE proposes CPT soil <br /> borings in the following locations <br /> • Between 40 and 50 feet east of groundwater monitoring well MW-4 (P-10), <br /> • Between 10 to 20 feet southeast of ground water monitoring well MW-1 (P-11), <br /> • Between 30 to 40 feet west of ground water monitoring well MW-3 (P-12), <br /> • Between 50 to 70 feet south of ground water monitoring well MW-4 (P-13), <br /> • Between 70 to 90 feet north of ground water monitoring well MW-2 (P-14), and <br /> • Between 10 to 20 feet north of ground water monitoring well MW-6 (P-15) <br /> The CPT borings shall be advanced to approximately 100 feet bsg utilizing a 25-ton truck-mounted <br /> CPT drill rig equipped with 2-inch diameter hollow-stem rods, however,total depths of borings may <br /> vary in response to hydrogeologic conditions and results of field screening encountered during <br /> drilling activities <br /> Grab ground water samples will be collected in intervals of porous and permeable material Selected <br /> ground water samples will be analyzed by a State of California Department of Health Services <br /> (DHS)-ccrtified laboratory for the following constituents <br /> • TPH-g by EPA Methods 5030I8015M, <br /> • BTEX compounds with MTBE by EPA Method 8020, and <br /> Advanced GeoEnwronmental,Inc <br />
