T <br /> 15 February 2002 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 96-0229 <br /> Page 11 of 12 <br /> manifest off-site to an appropriate disposal facility <br /> 45 SOIL VAPOR EXTRACTION PILOT TEST <br /> Following SVE well installation, an eight-hour SVE pilot test will be performed at the site to <br /> determine feasibility of SVE as a remediation alternative An internal combustion(IC) driven engine <br /> will be used to apply a vacuum on SVE well VW-1 while wells VW-2,VW-3,EW-1 and MW-2 will <br /> be utilized as observation points During the SVE pilot test, SVE operational parameters including <br /> soil-gas vapor concentrations, air flow and vacuum measurements will be monitored at %2-hour <br /> intervals utilizing Dwyer Magnehehc vacuum gauges and a photo-Ionization detector(PID Thermo <br /> Environmental 580A, 10 0 eV, calibrated to isobutylene) <br /> Soil vapor samples will be collected at two-hour intervals utilizing a hand air-vacuum pump and <br /> Tedlar bags and analyzed for TPH-g, BTEX and MTBE from a DHS-certified laboratory Soil vapor <br /> field parameters and analytical results will facilitate the design of an SVE system and will be used <br /> to determine a general radius of influence for spacing of SVE wells and the selection of an <br /> • appropriate SVE system <br /> 46 IN-SITU AIR SPARGING PILOT TEST <br /> Following the SVE pilot test, an IAS pilot test will be perfon-ned For performance of an In-situ air <br /> spargmg(IAS)pilot test, a compressor driven unit will be used to infect air into the subsurface via <br /> the LAS well The IAS pilot test will be operated for a penod of 48-hours (2 days) IAS well AW-1 <br /> will be utilized as the air infection point during the 48-hour IAS pilot test while wells MW-1,MW-2, <br /> MW-3, MW-4 and EW-I will be utilized as observation points Several parameters, including air <br /> infection rate, vapor concentrations, ground water depth and dissolved oxygen will be measured at <br /> a minimum of 1-hour intervals from observation wells Results of the IAS pilot test will be included <br /> in a CAP <br /> 47 SOIL VAPOR EXTRACTION/IN-SITU AIR SPARGING PILOT TEST <br /> Following the IAS pilot test, an eight-hour SVE/IAS pilot test will be performed at the site to <br /> determine effectiveness of SVE and IAS simultaneously An internal combustion(IC) driven engine <br /> will be used to apply a vacuum on SVE well VW-1 while wells VW-2,VW-3,EW-1 and MW-2 will <br /> be utilized as observation points During the SVE pilot test, SVE operational parameters including <br /> soil-gas vapor concentrations, air flow and vacuum measurements will be monitored at %2-hour <br /> • intervals utilizing Dwyer Magnehelic vacuum gauges and a photo-ionization detector(PID Thermo <br /> Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc <br />
