During a typical test, vacuum readings are recorded and vapor
samples are collected from all pertinent monitoring and vapor-extraction wells while a flow
rate and vacuum are applied to one vapor-extraction well. The vapor samples are analyzed
to assist in estimating the initial inlet concentration to an off-gas treatment system, and in
approximating the extent of the ;Eydrocarbon plume at the screened interval of the wells 4
where samples are taken.
A portable vapor-extraction system will be transported to the site. The vapor-extraction
equipment will consist of a vacuum blower; instrumentation for ilea wring air
flow,
, air
velocity, air pressure, temperature, electrical current, an g comp
i
und
concentrations; and PVC piping, fittings, and wellhead connections. The vapor-extraction R
well and two ground-water monitoring wells installed onsite will be used for the vapor- E
extraction test. The system will be operated as required to obtain vapor :<amples and
vacuum pressure and flow rate information. Vapor samples wil's be collected into sample
bags at the inlet and outlet of the vapor-extraction system. Chain-of-Custody protocol will
be followed throughout field and laboratory procedures.
Sample Labeling and Handling
Sample containers will be labeledin the field with the job number, sample location and
depth, and date and promptly placed in iced storage for transport to the laboratory. A
' Chain of Custody Record will be initiated by the geologist and updated throughout handling
of the samples and accompanies the samples to a laboratory certified by the Staf
Califurnia for the analyses requested. Samples are transported to the laboratory promptly
to }kelp ensure that recommended sample holding times will not be exceeded. Samples in
our custody will be properly disposed of after their useful life has expired.
}
05E4:Yar
30041-iw
