Canepa s Car Wash (Pacific Avenue)
Problem Assessment Report and Corrective Action Plan
Page 9
Gettysburty Place
The third well, located approximately 150 feet from Benjamin Holt Drive on Gettysburg Place (W3 ),
Could not be visually verified for its actual existence or use. It was installed in 1951 . The resident of 30
years at 6617 N. Gettysburg Place verified its previous existence. According to the resident, there were at
least three wells located on the east side of Gettysburg and south of Benjamin Holt Drive; they were
located in the grassy area but have been removed . No DWR documents were located confirming their
destruction . W3 is documented as a 14-inch diameter well and is designated as belonging to Lincoln
Village , a residential association. There was no available phone number to contact this entity.
6. 1 . 1 Surface Waters
There are no surface waters identified on available maps of the area within the radius, and none were
identified during site reconnaissance.
6. 1 .2 Schools
']'here are two elementary schools identified within the 2, 000-foot radius (both schools are located within
the Stockton Unified School District).
1 . Adams Elementary School (S I ) is located at 6402 Inglewood Avenue, approximately 1 ,200 feet
east of the site .
2 . Kohl Elementary ( S2) is located at 6324 Alturas Avenue, approximately 1 , 800 feet east of the
site.
There are also three facilities that are used for childcare and children 's activities .
I . Quality Care Daycare (CCI ) is located at 250 Pearl Avenue, approximately 800 feet southeast of
the site .
2 . Creative Child Care-Humpherys College (CC2) is located at 6650 Inglewood Avenue,
approximately 1 ,700 feet northeast of the site.
3 . Creative Child Care-Creative Pastime Nursery School (CC3) is located at 1039 Porter Avenue,
approximately 1 ,900 feet southwest of the site.
6. 1.3 Utilities
There are three public water utility districts servicing the 2,000-foot site radius: the City of Stockton
Municipal Utilities Department (SMU), California Water Services Company (CA-WS), and San Joaquin
County Utilities(SJU). All three were contacted in order to obtaina listof pubic water users The-utilities
were not able to provide a list of public water users within the 2 ,000-foot radius due to confidentiality;
nor were they able to provide detailed maps of their water systems .
According to Ed Formosa of SMU, their municipal utilities serve the northeast part of the site radius with
only a small group of customers on the southern boundary, SJU serves the northwestern part, and CA-WS
serves the southern part of the site radius . SJU, when contacted, indicated that they did not have wells in
the site area. Interviews with residents within the 2,000-foot radius were conducted to determine whether
the neighborhoods were on public or private water supply. The contacted residents stated that the
neighborhoods within the site reconnaissance were all on public water; however, this could not be verified
for every resident.
6.1 .4 Site Reconnaissance
Site reconnaissance of the 2, 000- foot radius was performed on foot and via automobile.
