Canepa's Car Wash <br /> I6230 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, California April 28, 1994 <br /> Phase II Site Characterization Page: 4 <br /> subsurface materials The soil samples were taken using a California Modified Split <br /> Spoon sampler with brass liners driven continuously by a 140 pound wnre-line hammer <br /> repeatedly falling 30 triches The blow counts necessary to drive the sampler were <br /> recorded on the boring log for each 6 inch interval to help evaluate the consistencies of <br /> the materials <br /> The laboratory samples did not have head space and were immediately sealed in their <br />' liners using aluminum foil-tined plastic caps All soil samples were properly labeled <br /> with protect name/number, date and time collected, sample ident>tiicarion and analysis <br /> requested Samples were additionally sealed in air tight plastic bags before being <br /> immediately refrigerated for delivery to the laboratory, and were under no <br /> circumstances opened by anyone other than laboratory personnel Cham of Custody <br />' records were maintained at all tunes The remaining samples were removed from their <br /> liners and used as an aide to the on-site geologist in logging the material at that depth <br /> 1 Soil samples collected for laboratory analysis were analyzed using EPA method 8020 <br /> for BTX&E, method 5030/LUFT for total petroleum hydrocarbons - gasoline, and <br /> method 3550 for total petroleum hydrocarbons - diesel The bottom samples of the <br /> first four monitoring wells were tested for 1,1,1, trichloroethane using EPA method <br /> lie 8010 Tins compound is being tested for because it was found in the souls spoils pale <br /> test sequence The laboratory analyzing the soil samples was Geo-Monitor, Inc, a <br /> State certified laboratory located in Hesperia, California. <br /> Soil samples were taken from stockpiled soil removed during soul vapor well system <br /> installation(Figure 3) The six samples were analyzed for TTLC/STLC, CAM Metals, <br /> 8010/8020, TPH-Gas (5030) and TPH Oil (355018015) The results are shown as <br /> Tables 3 &4, and Appendix A,B &C <br /> IS GroundwakrSampling <br /> A travel blankp rovided by the laboratory accompanied the sample vials from the time <br /> they were picked up from the lab to the time they were returned to the laboratory The <br /> travel blank and sample vials were transported via Greyhound Fast Freight to Geo- <br /> Monitor, Inc, a State certified laboratory located in Hespena, California This travel <br /> blank war ysred on the Chain of Custodv. and was only analyzed if the samples <br /> contained contaminants <br /> All sampling equipment, including the bailer and cables used by samphng personnel, <br /> was disassembled and steam-cleaned prior to commencement of sairaph.,g These <br /> procedures were followed between each well, sampling point, and at the end of the <br /> sampling day De-ionized or organic-free water(also provided by the laboratory) was <br /> 1 <br />
