1 <br /> Canepa Is Car Wash <br /> 6230 Paces Avenue, Stockton, California <br />' Phase H Site Charncterizadon <br />' L 0 Project Ident�iyi kation <br /> The Canepa's Car Wash has been required to install groundwater monitoring wells as a result <br /> of an on-site fuel line leak These wells will provide groundwater gradient information and help <br /> to define the extent of the contamination plume in the soil and groundwater The request was <br /> made by the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department, and is a part of an on- <br /> going site investigation <br /> 2.0 Site Desc ' tion and Histo <br /> �P rJ' <br /> Canepa's Car Wash has been operating at this site for nearly 20 years Between February 25 <br /> and March 3 of 1993,three(3)underground fuel tanks, fuel lines and dispensers were removed <br /> it order to replace them with the required double wall system It was discovered that the fuel <br /> alines had leaked and that the tanks had apparently been aver-filled Approximately 500 cubic <br /> yards of soil were removed from the tank excavation area The soils were tested by a certified <br /> laboratory and transported under manifest as a non-hazardous waste to Forward Landfill in <br /> Stockton, California for disposal Forward Landfill is a properly licensed Class II disposal <br /> facility to receive sods of this nature and level of contamination <br /> The site has had a single sod boring installed to the groundwater table that showed the <br /> groundwater had been impacted There is also a network of nine soil vapor extraction wells <br /> installed under the dispenser island, and a combustion system designed to treat the soul <br /> contamination problem has been awaiting permits The excavated soil and drill cuttings from <br /> all borings were stockpiled on site, characterized and are awaiting shipment for disposal <br /> 3.0 Scope of Work <br /> Between September 28 and 30, 1993, WHF, Inc, installed four (4) groundwater monitoring <br /> wells at thus site(Figure 2) MW-1, a four-inch (4") monitoring well, was installed immediately <br /> east of the sod vapor em-acuon well network (Figure 2) MW-1 also has the potential to be <br /> used as an extraction well MW-2, a two-inch (2") monitoring well, was installed in the alley <br /> immediately south of the soul vapor extraction well network MW-3, a two-inch (2") <br /> monitoring well, was installed at the southeast corner of the mann building near the vacuum <br /> stations And MW4, a two-inch (2") monitoring well, was installed in the alley north of the <br />
