All analyses were conducted by Geo-Monitor, Inc , a State certified
laboratory
4.0 Soil Conditions
The Soil Surveycompleted p in 1988 by the U S Department of Agriculture, Soil
Conservation Service, generally classify the soil types as being Jacktone, Hollenbeck or
' Stockton types Generally, these soils are somewhat poorly to moderately well-drained,
fine texture soils that are moderately deep to deep, down to a cemented hardpan
Analysis of soil samples show boring B-1 to be contaminated from 35 feet down to the
water table at approximately 55 feet below ground level MW-1 is only 8 feet from B-1
and was not laboratory sampled Two intervals of less than 100 ppm were detected in
MW-2 with a portable PID MW-3 was "none-detected" for BTEX, Gasoline and TCE,
but had traces of chloroform in the samples at 50 and 55 feet (Table 5)
5 0 Groundwater Conditions
The water table was approximately 53 to 55 feet below ground level as the borings were
tieing drilled Subsequent water sampling of all monitoring wells recorded water levels as
shown in Table 1 & Appendix G
Analyses of groundwater samples from the monitoring wells show benzene, toluene,
' xylene and gasoline contamination in MW-1, 2 and 4 MW-3 only had gasoline (Table 7)
The groundwater measurements from the in-tial sampling event of November 1, 1993 were
used to construct the gradient map shown as Figure 8 The groundwater contours
indicate a trough dipping due North and averaging 0 009 ft/ft The wells were measured
again on December 7, 1993 and another gradient map was constructed as Figure 9 The
gradient directinn had d moved 60 derâ–ºrPAc o +i,- s..n.
