Oil Discharge Response Plan
Page 2
4. Clear personnel from the spill area and secure the area.
5. Use absorbent materials to control oil spill at once.
6. Construct a temporary containment dike of absorbent materials, dirt, cinder blocks,
or bricks to help contain the spilled oil.
7. In the event of an oil spill, absorbent booms shall be deployed down stream.
All personnel listed in Table 2 (Page 17) and entities listed in Table 3
(Page 18) must be called IMMEDIATELY for any spill released from process
water treatment and discharge facility.
8. Emergency Spill Kits can be found in the following locations:
• Diesel Fuel Island; and
• Vehicle Maintenance Shop.
If spill response measures involve the shutting down of any operations, the
ESC will monitor the affected equipment for leaks, pressure buildup, and gas
generation, or ruptures in valves, pipes, or equipment.
After a spill has been contained, institute and coordinate proper cleanup
procedures for response personnel:
1. Use proper waste containers.
2. Pick up bulk liquid by using a shovel and place in properly labeled
waste container.
3. All cleanup materials, not reclaimed on site, are to be disposed of in
accordance with State and Federal regulations.
