At stake in this case is the emergency water supply of the County of San Joaquin <br /> 21 <br /> ("County"), damaged by gasoline containing a carcinogenic chemical released from a gas station <br /> 22 <br /> for which the Defendants UNION OIL COMPANY OF CALIFORNIA, A CALIFORNIA <br /> 23 <br /> CORPORATION ("UNOCAL") AND TOSCO CORPORATION("TOSCO") are legally <br /> 24 <br /> responsible and have been since before 1967. <br /> 25 <br /> 2. The emergency water supply of the County is located in several reservoirs of groundwater <br /> 26 <br /> underneath the County. <br /> 27 <br /> 3.
