November 6, 2008 <br /> Page 2 <br /> • Technical justification for the proposed work and a discussion on how the collection <br /> of additional data will assist in the evaluation and selection of a remedial option to <br /> expedite site cleanup <br /> o A list of potential remedial alternatives being considered for pilot testing at <br /> the site will be included, and the data will be used to either support or negate <br /> the potential alternatives being considered <br /> In additional, Chevron has directed ARCAOIS to provide an amended work plan for former <br /> Unocal service station 0187 to the END prior to November 22, 2008 (within 30 days of <br /> October 23, 2008). The amended work plan will include the following: <br /> • Technical justification for the installation and sampling of new vapor probes versus <br /> the reuse of existing probes and a work plan to properly destroy the previously <br /> damaged vapor probes currently onsite <br /> • Photos of the damaged soil vapor probes will be provided <br /> • Installation locations of soil vapor probes SG-3, SG-6, SG-10 and SG-13 will be <br /> reviewed/verified <br /> • Technical justification for locations including known impacted source areas (e.g. MIP- <br /> 15 and others) and depths of proposed soil vapor probes including proposed <br /> construction installation and completion details <br /> • Technical justification for the proposed work and a discussion on how the collection <br /> of additional data will assist in the evaluation and selection of a remedial option to <br /> expedite site cleanup <br /> o A list of potential remedial alternatives being considered for pilot testing at <br /> the site will be included, and the data will be used to either support or negate <br /> the potential alternatives being considered <br /> We appreciate the EHD's continued understanding and patience regarding the progress at <br /> these sites, Chevron shares the EHD's desire to move these sites towards closure. All <br /> currently approved work plans (i.e. the destruction of NP-1 and redevelopment of U-17) will <br /> be completed during November 2008.
