0c
I - EWA
r
Subsurface Investigation December 12. 1990
Former Unocal Station No. 2859, Stockton, California AGS 38012-5
SITE DESCRIPTION
The site location is shown on the Site Vicinity Map(Plate P-1). The former service station
was demolished in February 1988; the site was graded and remains vacant. Two 10,000-
gallon underground gasoline-storage tanks formerly northeast of the former station building
and other selected features are shown on the Historical Generalized Site Plan, Plate P-2.
The tanks stored super unleaded and regular unleaded gasoline. A 550-gailonwaste-oil tank
was east of the station building.
PREVIOUS WORK
The initial investigation at the site included drilling five soil borings (KB1 through KBS) in
January 1988. The work was conducted by J.H. Kleinfelder and Associates(Kleinfelder) of
Sacramento, California. Subsequent work conducted by Applied GeoSystems included
observing removal of two gasoline and one waste-oil storage tanks (March and April 1988),
and drilling three onsite soil borings and installing ground-water monitoring wells to
evaluate soil and ground water for hydrocarbons (June 1988). Details of this work are
discussed below.
Drilling oil Borings. January 1988
Fire soil borings were drilled near the former underground gasoline and waste-oil tanks and
the pump islands (Plate P-2). Results of laboratory analyses presented in Kleinfelder
Report No. 24-2081-01, dated March 3, 1988 are summarized in Table 1 in this report.
2
.gyp*Piiear tGeOSYSMMS -
