■
18 September 1998
AGE-NC Project No 95-0173
depths and total well depths were measured in wells MW-i through MW-12, VW-1, AW-1 B and
AW-2B to the nearest 0 01 foot utilizing a Solinst water level meter Ground water elevations were
calculated by subtracting the depth to ground water from the surveyed casing elevations (Table 2)
Ground water elevations were plotted and contoured on a scaled site map (Figure 6)
After water levels were measured, a minimum of three well volumes of ground water were purged
from wells MW-1 through MW-12, VW.1, AW-1B and AW-2B by hand bailing and using a two-
stage submersible pump Ground water stabilization parameters, including temperature, pH and
conductivity, were measured at regular purge volume intervals utilizing an ICM model 52200 water
analyzer Stabilization data and field logs are contained in Appendix C Purged ground water was
stored in 55-gallon drums on-site in an area lacking public access
The ground water levels from monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-12,VW-1,AW-1B and AW-2B
achieved a minimum of 80 percent recharge prior to sample collection Ground water samples were
collected utilizing disposable polyethylene bailers Upon retrieval, each sample was transferred to
EPA-approved 40-m1 VOA vials,containing 0 5 ml 18%hydrochloric acid as a sample preservative,
and into 1-liter amber bottles Care was taken to ensure that visible air bubbles were not present in
10 the VOAs after filling and capping Ground water sample containers were labeled with the well
designation, date, time, and sampler's initials
Following collection, each sample was logged on a chain-of-custody form, placed in a chilled
container and transported to a DTSC-certified laboratory in accordance with
E • EPA Method 8015M for TPH-g and TPH-d, respectively,
• EPA Method 8020 for BTEX with MTBE, and
• EPA Method 8260 for TBA, DIPE, ETBE and TAME, and to confirm and quantify MTBE
if detected by EPA Method 8020
' The results of the analysis are contained in Table 3
3.0. FINDINGS
Results of field observations and laboratory analysis of soil and ground water samples are as follows
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
1
