. 21 March 1997 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 95-0173 <br /> Page 6 of 8 <br /> 4 2 WELL COMPLETION <br /> For the installation of ground water monitoring wells, SVE wells and IAS wells, the following <br /> procedures will be performed <br /> Ground water monitoring wells will be completed using 2-inch diameter PVC casing with a <br /> 20-foot screened interval Blank PVC screen (Schedule 40) will be used from surface grade <br /> to the top of a screened interval A filter pack will be installed using # 3 sand from bottom <br /> of screened depth to two feet above, and a 3-foot bentonite plug placed on top of filter pack <br /> Each well will then be backfilled to the surface utilizing a tremae method with Portland Type <br /> II cement (Figure 3) <br /> • Soil vapor extraction wells will be cluster-completed using 2-inch diameter PVC casing with <br /> a separate screened intervals Blank PVC screen (Schedule 40) will be used from surface <br /> grade to the top of a screened interval A filter pack will be installed using # 3 sand from <br /> bottom of screened depth to two feet above, and a 3-foot bentonite plug placed on top of <br /> filter pack Each well will then be backfilled utilizing a tremae method with Portland Type II <br /> cement (Figure 4) <br /> - Air sparging wells will be completed using 5/16-inch diameter Polyethylene tubing and 5-feet <br /> of 318-inch diameter stainless steel screen implant Polyethylene tubing will be used from <br /> surface grade to the top of a stainless steel screen implant A filter pack will be installed using <br /> # 3 sand from bottom of screened depth to two feet above, and a 3-foot bentonite plug placed <br /> on top of filter pack The well will then be backfilled utilizing a tremie method with Portland <br /> Type 11 cement (Figure 5) <br /> 43 GROUND WATER SAMPLE COLLECTION <br /> For the collection of ground water samples, the following procedures will be performed <br /> • Survey the top of each well casing to determine the elevation relative to existing wells <br /> • New ground water monitoring wells will be developed using a submersible pump until ground <br /> water appears to be sediment free At least three well volumes of water will be removed from <br /> each well to stabilize temperature, pH, and conductivity Ground water samples will be <br /> collected using disposable bailers and new nylon rope, samples will be collected in 40-m1 <br /> VOA vials and one-liter amber bottles <br /> • Store the samples in a chilled container and transport under chain-of-custody protocol to a <br /> . <br /> state-certified laboratory for analysis Ground water samples will be analyzed for TPH-g, <br /> TPH-d,BTEX and MTBE in accordance with EPA methods 8015M and 8020, respectively <br />
