I
' 13 May 2003
AGE-NC Project No 95-0173
I Replacement of Well MW-13 letter, dated 22 July 2002,prepared by AGE and approved by SJCEHD
by letter dated 31 July 2002 (Appendix A)
32 SOIL SAMPLING
Due to the severe heaving sands encountered during the construction and abandonment of well
MW-13 to 100 feet bsg,no sampling activities were performed during drilling of replacement well
MW-13 (A-C) Instead, the boring was advanced to total depth (152 feet bsg)with a wood plug in
I the lead drilling bit and without any sampling activities, upon reaching the total depth, tap water was
deployed in the hollow stem augers prior to knocking out the wood plug as a counter measure to the
upward heaving sand
I3 3 EQUIPMENT DECONTAMINATION
While advancing down-hole, each five-foot section of the hollow stem auger was pressure washed
I prior to deploying down-hole Fanseate generated from decontaminating the equipment was placed
in properly labeled DOT-approved model 17H 55-gallon drums and was stored on-site in an area
lacking public access
I
34 SAMPLE LOGGING
Soil samples were not collected during drilling activities for MW-13 (A-C), since soil samples and
descriptions have been obtained at the MW-13 location A boring log for original well MW-13 was
included in Ground Water Monitoring Well Installation Report - Third Quarter 2000, dated
01 November 2000, and hthologic data to a depth of 150 feet bsg was collected by cone
penetrometer testing (CPT-2A) and included in Cone Penetrometer Testing Site Investigation -
IFourth Quarter 2001, dated 19 February 2002
A boring log for replacement well MW-13 (A-C) is included with Appendix B and documents the
Icompletion of well MW-13 (A-C) Based on previous soil boring and cone penetrometer testing
(CPT) data, the general hthology beneath the site with respect to replacement well MW-13 (A-C)
Iis depicted in cross sectional view C-C' on Figure 3
Advanced GeoEnviron mental,Inc
