I <br />' 13 May 2003 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 95-0173 <br /> Page 3 of 6 <br /> I Replacement of Well MW-13 letter, dated 22 July 2002,prepared by AGE and approved by SJCEHD <br /> by letter dated 31 July 2002 (Appendix A) <br /> 32 SOIL SAMPLING <br /> Due to the severe heaving sands encountered during the construction and abandonment of well <br /> MW-13 to 100 feet bsg,no sampling activities were performed during drilling of replacement well <br /> MW-13 (A-C) Instead, the boring was advanced to total depth (152 feet bsg)with a wood plug in <br /> I the lead drilling bit and without any sampling activities,upon reaching the total depth,tap water was <br /> deployed in the hollow stem augers prior to knocking out the wood plug as a counter measure to the <br /> upward heaving sand <br /> I3 3 EQUIPMENT DECONTAMINATION <br /> While advancing down-hole, each five-foot section of the hollow stem auger was pressure washed <br /> I prior to deploying down-hole Fanseate generated from decontaminating the equipment was placed <br /> in properly labeled DOT-approved model 17H 55-gallon drums and was stored on-site in an area <br /> lacking public access <br /> I <br /> 34 SAMPLE LOGGING <br /> Soil samples were not collected during drilling activities for MW-13 (A-C), since soil samples and <br /> descriptions have been obtained at the MW-13 location A boring log for original well MW-13 was <br /> included in Ground Water Monitoring Well Installation Report - Third Quarter 2000, dated <br /> 01 November 2000, and hthologic data to a depth of 150 feet bsg was collected by cone <br /> penetrometer testing (CPT-2A) and included in Cone Penetrometer Testing Site Investigation - <br /> IFourth Quarter 2001, dated 19 February 2002 <br /> A boring log for replacement well MW-13 (A-C) is included with Appendix B and documents the <br /> Icompletion of well MW-13 (A-C) Based on previous soil boring and cone penetrometer testing <br /> (CPT) data, the general hthology beneath the site with respect to replacement well MW-13 (A-C) <br /> Iis depicted in cross sectional view C-C' on Figure 3 <br /> Advanced GeoEnviron mental,Inc <br />
