Additionally, reference is made,
within the report, that a "gravel lens appears to be a zone of perched water." A perched water table is
such only if not interconnected with any other aquifer. Site data presented to date does not support
the perched water table theory.
Purge water should again be disposed, and should be managed on a regular schedule for removal.
PHS-EHD has not received groundwater monitoring reports for the months January through May 1995
(First and Second Quarter). Failure to submit quarterly groundwater monitoring reports will place this
site in compliance jeopardy threatening eligibility for the Clean Up Fund. Monitoring groundwater
fluctuations and gradient is critical in determining whether groundwater remediation will be necessary.
The remediation option selected for the site appears to be the appropriate choice based upon the
current characterization. However, prior to implementation of this Corrective Action Plan (CAP),
please submit by 31 July 1995 cross sections prepared from the boring logs; current groundwater
monitoring data, should you not have the First and Second Quarter Monitoring Reports; and a well
survey within 2000 feet of the site. Following PHS-EHD's review of the sectional diagrams, you will be
notified as to the acceptance of the CAP.
If you have any questions, please contact me at (209) 468-3452.
Donna Heran, RENS, Director
nvironmental Hea th Division
Diane M.
