March Lane, Suite A•Stockton, CA 95207•(209) 956-0264•FAX(209)956-0700
ONLAW
ow
- 14 August 1992
(GeoAudit CV 43D6-1.8)
I
Mr. Arthur Wyatt
6290 Chesapeake Circle
Stockton, CA 95219 . ;
Subject: Proposal for site Assessment
ARCO Xini .Mart
4511 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, California
Dear Mr. Wyatt:
In accordance with your request, we have prepared this proposal to
perform the site assessment activities outlined in the addendum to
our Soil Contamination Workplan. This proposal covers the cost of
drilling six borings, which we believe is the minimum number that
will be needed in order to adequately assess soil conditions at
this site. !
The borings will be drilled to "a maximum depth of 30 feet and soil
samples will be collected at 5-foot intervals, starting Lat 10 feet
below grade. However, if - any boring(s) - exhibit evidence of
contamination at 30 feet during field screening, drilling will be
continued until groundwater is encountered (estimated to be 60 feet
or less) . A maximum of 3 borings will be drilled to groundwater and
converted to 2-inch-diameter monitoring wells to determine whether !
groundwater contamination is present. At most sites with known
groundwater contamination, San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Division (EHD) and the Central Valley Regional Water Quality
Control Board (RWQCB) require a minimum of three monitoring wells.
U, - I
`, We estimate that between 18 and 30 soil samples will be submitted
_ « for laboratory analysis. Selection of samples will be based on i
field evidence of the presence or absence of contamination. As
_- specified in the workplan, all samples will be analyzed for BTE&X
and for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons in the gasoline range. Samples
from B-4 through B--6 will also be analyzed for Total Petroleum
Hydrocarbons in the diesel range. Water samples, if needed, will be
analyzed for the same compounds.
Following completion of the field work and laboratory analysis, we
will prepare a report of ou:• findings 'for submittal to San Joaquin
County EHD 'and RWQCB,' as required by state guidelines.
The-. estimated cost of the above work, including submittal of
required drilling permits, should not exceed $ 16,500. Should fewer
than three groundwater monitoring wells be installed, the drilling „
time and the number of groundwater and soil samples will be less,
Environmental Services•Hydrogeology•Geotechnical Services
