. 08 October 1997 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 95-0128 <br /> Page 3 of 8 <br /> ground water monitoring wells Advanced 10-inch borings to depths specified in Section 4 1 , at <br /> Planned locations for dual-completed ground water monitoring wells <br /> Soil samples will be collected every five feet beginning at a depth of five feet bsg Soil samples will <br /> be collected using a California split-spoon sampler and brass sleeves The sampler will be driven by <br /> dropping a 140-pound weight from a height of 30 inches The number of blows required to drive each <br /> 6-inch length of the sampler (blow counts) are to be recorded on boring logs compiled by an AGE <br /> staff geologist <br /> Upon sample retrieval, the muddle brass sleeve will be removed from the sampler The ends of the <br /> sleeve will be immediately covered with Teflon sheets and sealed with plastic end caps secured with <br /> tape The preserved samples will then be immediately placed under ice in a chilled container for <br /> transportation to a state-certified laboratory Each soil sample sleeve will be labeled with boring <br /> location, vertical depth, sampling time, date and sampler's initials <br /> 3 2 EQUIPMENT DECONTAMINATION <br /> All sampling tools and brass sleeves used for sample collection will be thoroughly rinsed with clean <br /> water after washing with a solution of Alconox All hollow stem augers are to be steam-cleaned prior <br /> to advancement in each borehole <br /> 3 3 LABORATORY ANALYSIS <br /> Selected soil samples will be analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline and <br /> diesel (TPH-g and TPH-d), volatile aromatic compounds (benzene, toluene, ethyl-benzene and total <br /> xylenes BTE&X� and methyl-tert-butyl ether (MTBE) and other oxygenated fuel additives tertiary <br /> butyl alcohol(TBA), di-isopropyl ether D1PE), ethyl tertiarybut l ether (ETBE and tertiary amyl <br /> 14 methyl ether(TAME) in accordance with EPA methods 8015m/5030 and 8020/602 and 8260/8240 <br /> Selected soil samples may also be analyzed for intrinsic permeability, moisture content, porosity and ' <br /> total nrannir• enrhnn (TO � in orrnr��nr o-,.+1, +L - _ r^t%� __ • nm� r I I � <br /> --a-- --�-� \- --1 �•• ---W*�+auA�.�.
