I
' 25 April 2005
• AGE-NC Project No 95-0128
TPH-g, TPH-d, MTBE and BTEX were not detected in any of the effluent samples collected this
' quarter The pH measurements were within permitted discharge levels
Analytical results are summarized in Table 1 The laboratory reports for the quarterly monitoring
event(CTEL Project Nos CT214-0501145, 0502071 and 0503244), quality assurance and quality
control (QA/QC) reports and chain of custody forms are included in Appendix B GeoTracker
' confirmation pages of the submitted laboratory electronic deliverable format(EDF)files are included
in Appendix C
3 2 MASS OF RECOVERED HYDROCARBONS - GROUND WATER
1 The mass of hydrocarbons removed was calculated from the volume of water treated and the
concentrations from laboratory analysis A total volume of 663,858 gallons was extracted between
December 2004 and March 2005,based on effluent flow meter observations Generally, poor ground
water production was observed during the operation of extraction well EW-1,while excellent ground
water production was observed after extraction began from well EW-2
iBased on the total water volume extracted, 0 186 lbs of MTBE and 0 04 lbs of benzene were
removed from the site and treated, with no measurable TPH-g removed The hydrocarbon mass
removal calculations and the concentration trends of the influent samples over time are displayed
in Appendix D
' 33 SOIL-VAPOR EXTRACTION
Dunng the first quarter 2005, the SVE unit operated at an average air flow rate of 110 scfm,
generating an induced vacuum (negative pressure) of approximately 8 and 20 inches of water,
measured in the piping between the blower and extraction well The SVE unit operation was
' continuous over the quarter between 25 January and 15 March 2005, when the SVE unit was shut
down for repair to the media The GAC media was replaced on 23 March 2005,to prevent excessive
hydrocarbon discharge on the vapor effluent The SVE unit was restarted on 23 March 2005 The
analytical results of soil-vapor samples are as follows
• 13 January 2005 (initial APCD inspection) TPH-g was detected from the influent SVE
' sample at a concentration of 28,000 micrograms liter(µg/1),BTEX compounds were detected
at 93 µg/l, 150 µg/l, 280 µg/l and 840 µg/l, respectively, and MTBE was detected at a
concentration of 71 µg/1 Contaminants of concern (CDCs) were not generally detected in
vthe effluent SVE sample, however 5 5 µg11 of xylene was detected
' Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
