The risk is too great.
am concerned about any future road construction that may involve monitoring well MW-4. I can only hope that
grout applied under pressure will protect the groundwaterfromany surface contamination.
I
Vicki McCartney, Senior REHS
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department .
1868 East Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, California 95205
Phone: (209)468-9852
Email: vmccartney a sjcehd.com
From: Magee, Amanda [mailto:Amanda.Magee@stantec.com]
Sent: Monday, May 19, 2014 1:34 PM
To: Vicki McCartney [EH]
Cc: Adrienne Ellsaesser [EH]; Nuel Henderson [EH]; John Yoakum [EH]; Lichtenberger, Deborah; Manning,
Danielle
Subject: RE: Variances for 7-Eleven Store No. 17334
Hi Vicki,
After speaking with PG&E and our driller's health and safety team, Stantec respectfully requests to
leave the MW-4 well box in place. As we discussed last week, there are high-voltage electric lines
running almost directly under the well box (see attached photo'). According to the engineers at
PG&E, the depth of the lines cannot be confirmed, but they may be shallower than 24" bgs. Also,
they will not turn off that section of line,as that would result in a loss of power to their customers.
Our drillers do not feel.it is safe to jackhammer out the concrete pad and well box in such close
proximity to active high-voltage electric lines.
On Friday, May 16, the well was pressure grouted to the surface. The metal ring at the top of the
well box was removed and the void was filled with concrete. Please let me know if this will be an
acceptable alternative to removing the entire well box.
Thank you,
5/19/2014
