Instead of over-drilling the wells, as approved by letter dated 27 February 2014 from San
Joaquin County Environmental Health Department(EHD), Stantec requests"pressure grouting the wells to
the surface and remove the well boxes with hand tools.'
The EHD approves the destruction of MW-2, MW-3 and MW-4 by pressure grouting with the following
conditions:
. Apply twenty-five pounds per square inch (psi) of liquid-grout pressure for a minimum of ten
minutes at each well;
• After applying the pressure, remove the wellboxand hand dig down to three feet below surface
grade (bsg); cut off the casing at two-and-a-half feet bsg and grout the hole to near surface with
neat-cement grout. The hole need not be a foot larger in diameter than the originally drilled hole; the
hole just needs to be-large enough to be able to reach down and cut off the casing a half-foot above
the bottom of the hole and allow grout to surround the casing at total depth.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
Thank you, Amanda.
Vicki McCartney, Senior REHS
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department
1868 East Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, California 95205
Phone: (209)468-9852
Email: vmccartneV(o_sicehd.com
5/19/2014
