rye S
DAMES & MOORE A PROFESSIONAL LIMITED PARTNERSHIP
1320 EAST SHAW AVENUE, SUITE 110, FRESNO, CALIFORNIA 93710 (209)222-7892
FAX(209)222-1937 March 30, 1990
Chevron U.S.A.
P.O. Box 5004
San Ramon, California 95001
Attention: John Randall
RE: Proposed Additional Work
Well Destruction
Chevron S.S. #96465
Pershing Avenue & Robinhood Drive
Stockton, California
Gentlemen:
Pursuant to your request, we have prepared a workplan addendum for the
destruction of three groundwater monitoring wells at the above--referenced subject
property. The following proposal summarizes the details of our workplan.
The existing monitoring wells installed by others at the subject property
were intended primarily as monitoring devices, and the aquifer penetration of the
wells was limited to depth necessary to obtain data describing water level
information and groundwater sampling at the time of well installation. Recent
depth sounding tests suggest that the groundwater in the area has dropped below
the bottom of wells 4, 5 and 2„(Plate 1) . - In Dames & Moore's opiniob, these
wells no longer serve a useful purpose and should be destroyed pursuant to the
San Joaquin' Local health District (SJLHD) Suggested Procedures for .well
destruction.
TURPOSE 'AND SCOPE OF WORK
The purpose of the destruction of the three monitoring wells is to ensure
that usable groundwater data will 'be obtained from the new .proposedMonitor.ing
wells, thereby eliminating wells of questionable utility. The'destructi[on of the
Wells will ke `in compliance with SJLHD.' Suggested Procedures for well destruction.
The proposed scope of services will include the following tasks:
o Review of reports detailing previous investigations at the subject property;
o obtaining required permits prior to the commencement of the field portion of
the well destruction.
o Destruction of three existing groundwater monitoring wells at the subject
property.
o Preparing a report to present our findings, conclusions and recommendations.
OFFICES WORLDWIDE -
e
