Services <br /> Brown and Caldwell's Analytical Services Division has been <br /> providing laboratory services to industry and government <br /> for over 35 years. Laboratories located at Emeryville in <br /> the San Francisco Bay Area and at Pasadena in Greater Los <br /> Angeles perform a full range of analytical tests, including <br /> the following: <br /> Compliance monitoring for RCRA, t]PDES, CAM, ARB <br /> Potable water testing <br /> i Water and wastewater characterization <br /> Toxic and hazardous waste investigation <br /> Treatability studies <br /> Analytical consultation and methods development <br /> Priority Pollutant analysis <br /> Agricultural pesticide analysis <br /> Quality control services <br /> Bacteriology and Microbiology <br /> To%icity bioassays <br /> Sample collection and on-site analysis <br /> B. Personnel <br /> The Division is made up of about 70 experienced chemists, <br /> biologists, and technical assistants. Half have degrees in <br /> chemistry and most of the remainder have other technical <br /> dearees. Several staff members hold advanced degrees in <br /> thein primary field. <br /> In addition to academic preparation, a formal program of <br /> training is carried out for new employees or those who <br /> change job assignments. A training outline is prepared by <br /> the supervisor and discussed with the employee and any <br /> senior analysts who may participate in the training. At <br /> the end of three months, a technical review is carried out. <br /> For this review, the new employee is asked technical <br /> questions while the supervisor observes the answers. The <br /> review board usually consists of the .Technical Director, <br /> the Quality Assurance Manager, and the Laboratory Director <br /> or Supervisor. <br /> Brown and Caldwell also provides a system for professional <br /> development array from the job. Laboratory specialists are <br /> frequently sent to training sessions and seminars presented <br /> by instrument vendors and professional societies. Dues <br /> I--1 <br />
