's proposed procedures for the investigation of a suspected <br /> subsurface, ga^oline leak at the Chevron Service Station located <br /> ,_. at 5608 North ..ershing Avenue in Stockton California. A leakage <br /> of an unknown quantity of gasoline is suspected to have occurred <br /> in the product line between the pump island and the underground <br /> fuel storage tanks. A site sketch showing the underground tank <br /> and piping locations is provided for your reference. <br /> The purpose of this investigation is to determine if a leak <br /> has occurred at this site and if so to define Vie extent and <br /> magnitude of the impact to the subsurface soil4 and groundwater.. <br /> The following procedures outline Groundwater Technology's <br /> mat hOJOlogy in conducting the investigation. <br /> 1. Three deep soil borings will be drilled to define the <br /> vertical extent of soil contamination and permit the construction <br /> of groundwater monitoring wells, if necessary, to evaluate the <br /> impact on the shallow groundwater system. The site sketch shows <br /> the proposed location of the three borings (See Figure 1). <br /> 2. The monitoring wells will be constructed of 4 inch machine <br /> slotted PVC screen and casing installed within a 12 inch borehole <br /> (See Figure 2). The screened interval will extend a minimum of <br /> 10 feet above and 20 feet below the water table (unless a <br /> competent aquitard is encountered less than 20 feet below the <br /> water table).
