area of contamination was less than 27 ' wide by 27 ' long by 21 '
deep.
ESTIMATE OF AMOUNT OF PRODUCT LEAKAGE:
The present owners purchased the property in January, 1986; the UST
had been out of service for some time prior to that date. The
former owners of the property, Raxnbo Hakxng Co. , used the tank for
fueling their fleet of vehicles. It was estimated that fuel usage
averaged 400--640 gallons per week when the tank was in use; the date
of installation of the tank, the total amount of gasoline used, and
any records of spillage or loss, are not known. Therefore, it is
not possible to make any kind of estimate of potential leakage.
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS:
From a review of the work that has been done to date, and an
analysis of the laboratory results, it appears that the
contamination has been removed, and that the excavation is clean.
Additional soil removal and sampling does not appear warranted.
It is recommended that the excavation be filled with clean fill
dirt, properly certified and manifested, and returned to it 's
original grade. It is further recommended that the spoil presently
. stored adjacent to the excavation be transferred to a vacant
Location immediately to the north , (designated "vacant area" on
Plate VI , ) placed on plastic and properly covered. This will allow
the owner to utilize the portion of the property presently occupied
by the excavation and spoil , while soil remediation proposals are
reviewed and a soil remediation plan is prepared for review and
approval by your staff .
We would appreciate your prompt review and response to this report;
if you have any questions, or desire clarification, please do not
hesitate to contact us at your earliest convenience.
Y ur tr y
RED Q
William anter
&LI M J HUNTER
cc: E. ngdahl
Thorpe Oil
NO 864
sTqof CA1FaQ`k
