07 May 1999
AGE-NC Project No. 99-0592
• Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX) and MTBE in accordance with
EPA Method 8020; and
• Fuel oxygenates including MTBE, TBA,DIPE, ETBE, and TAME in accordance with EPA
Method 8260.
Each soil sample will be labeled with location, time, date, and sampler's initials following sample
collection. Soil samples will be placed in a chilled container under ice and transported under chain-
of-custody procedures.
Based on the results of the laboratory analysis and approval by PHS-EHD, if impact is relatively
low, soil designated as Stockpile No. 3 will be used as backfill for the former UST excavation area.
Backfill procedures will be scheduled following approval. PHS-EHD will be notified prior to
backfilling the excavation.
STOCKPILE NOS. 1. 2.AND 4
Stockpile No. 1, 2, and 4 have an approximate combined volume of 100 cubic yards. Based on the
analytical results presented to AGE for samples SP-1, SP-2, and SP-4, the concentrations of
hydrocarbon-impact to the soil would restrict the use of the stockpiled material as backfill. Based
on this data, AGE proposes to transport and dispose of stockpiled soils designated as stockpile No.
1, 2, and 4 to an appropriate landfill facility. Work will be scheduled following approval from PHS-
EHD.
AGE has scheduled the soil sampling of Stockpile No. 3 for 12 May 1999 at 10:00 am.
