04 December 2007
AGE-NC Project No. 99-0592
2.2.1. Drilling
The pilot borings for the monitoring wells (MW5 through MW7) will be advanced to a depth of
75 feet bsg,and the pilot boring for the monitoring well (MW8)will be advanced to approximately
80 feet bsg; the total depth of each well boring may vary according to geologic/hydrogeologic
conditions encountered during drilling.
Selected soil samples from each pilot boring will be submitted for laboratory analysis by a California
Department of Public Health(CDPH)-certified laboratory for the following constituents:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline(TPH-g) in accordance with EPA
Method 8015M; and
• Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes(BTEX),and fuel additives methyl tertiary-
butyl ether(MTBE), di-isopropyl ether(DIPE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether(ETBE), tertiary-
amyl methyl ether(TAME),tert-Butanol(TBA),Methanol,Ethanol,ethyl dibromide(EDB)
and 1,2-Dichloroethane(1,2-DCA)by EPA Method 8260.
Laboratory reports of soil analysis, testing methods, laboratory quality assurance/quality control
(QA/QC) reports, and sample chain of custody documentation will be presented in a report of
findings and recommendations.
2.2.2. Well Completion, Development, and Survey
The proposed pilot soil borings MW5 through MW7 will be completed as a single-level ground
water monitoring wells screened from 55 feet to 75 feet bsg. The proposed pilot soil boring MW8
will be completed as a single-level ground water monitoring well screened from 60 feet to 80 feet
bsg. Following installation, each well will be developed to maximize water flow and minimize the
amount of fine-grained sediment drawn into the well during pumping or bailing, and each well head
will be surveyed to determine its location and elevation relative to mean sea level (MSL).
2.2.3. Ground Water Monitoring, Sampling, and Analysis
Following the installation of the new monitoring wells, ground water monitoring and sampling
activities will be conducted for the ground water on a quarterly basis; monitoring activities will
include recording depth to ground water measurements and collection of ground water samples for
laboratory analysis by a CDPH-certified laboratory for the analytes noted in Section 2.2.. Quarterly
ground water monitoring event procedures are detailed in the AGE-prepared Monitoring Well
i
Advanced GcoEnvironmental,Inc.
