1 SECTION 11222
3 STATIC MIXER AND INJECTION SPOOLS
4
5
' 6 PART 1: GENERAL
7
6 1.01 DESCRIPTION
1 9
10 The work of this section consists of furnishing and installing inline static mixing an
11 chemical injection fittings for the injection and mixing of chemicals.
12
' 13 1.02 RELATED WORK SPECIFIED ELSEWHERE
14
15 A. Section 11807: Housed Effluent Filter Polymer System
1s
17 B. Division 15: Piping and Appurtenances
16
19 1.03 SUBMITTALS
' 20
21 A. In accordance with Section 01300.
22
23 B. Drawings and descriptive data and brochures of each item of equipment.
24
25 C. Certified dimensional drawings and weights of each item of equipment.
2s
27
26 PART 2: MATERIALS
29
' 30 2.01 GENERAL
31
32 A. The static mixer shall incorporate mixing elements of sufficient thickness and flexural rigidity
33 to withstand the hydrodynamic forces of the process flow and the static head of the
34 process and supported process fluid. Mixer elements shall be integral to the mixer
35 housing.
' 36
37 B. The static mixer will be configured to divide and rotate the flow streams radially as the flow
36 moves axially through the mixer. It will approximate a pure plug flow condition with uniform
39 residence time distribution so as to minimize back mixing. The inline mixer will consist of
40 mixing elements in series that sequentially change the direction of flow rotation 180
41 degrees.
42
43 C. A complete mix will be considered to have been achieved if the standard deviation o
44 concentration about the volumetric arithmetic mean does not exceed 0.1.
45
46 D. The cross-sectional flow area of the mixer will be at least 98% of the open area. The
' 47 mixing elements will expose minimal surface area to corrosion and abrasion.
4e
49
' STATIC MIXER AND INJECTION SPOOLS
051094 11222-1
