Lay out pipes to fall within partition, wall, or roof cavities, and to not require furring other <br /> z than as shown on the Drawings. <br /> 3 <br /> 4 3.04 TRENCHING AND BACKFILLING <br /> 5 <br /> 6 A. Perform trenching and backfilling associated with the work of this Section in strict <br /> 7 accordance with the provisions of Section 02221 of these Specifications. <br /> s <br /> s B. Cut bottom of trenches to grade. Make trenches 12" wider than the greatest dimension of <br /> 10 the pipe. <br /> 11 <br /> 12 C. Bedding and backfilling: <br /> 13 <br /> 14 1. Install piping promptly after trenching. Keep trenches open as short a time as <br /> 15 possible. <br /> 16 <br /> 17 2. Under the building, install pipes on a 6" bed of damp sand. Backfill to bottom of slab <br /> 1e with damp sand. <br /> 19 <br /> 20 3. Outside the building, install underground piping on a 6" bed of damp sand. Backfill <br /> ' 21 to within 12" of finish grade with damp sand. Backfill remainder with native soil. <br /> 22 <br /> 23 4. Do not backfill until installation has been approved and until Project Record Documents <br /> ' <br /> 24 have been properly annotated. <br /> 25 <br /> 26 3.05 INSTALLATION OF PIPING AND EQUIPMENT, GENERAL <br /> 27 <br /> za A. Thoroughly clean items before installation. Cap pipe openings to exclude dirt until fixtures <br /> 29 are installed and final connections have been made. <br /> 30 <br /> ' 31 B. Cut pipe accurately, and work into place without springing or forcing, properly clearing <br /> 32 windows, doors, and other openings. Excessive cutting or other weakening of the building <br /> 33 will not be permitted. <br /> ' 34 <br /> 35 C. Run horizontal sanitary and storm drainage piping at a uniform grade of 1/4" per ft, unless <br /> 36 otherwise noted. <br /> 37 <br /> 38 3.06 PIPE SUPPORTS <br /> 39 <br /> 40 A. In accordance with Section 15094 and the following: <br /> ' 41 <br /> az B. Provide hangers on the piping at each side of, and within 6" of, hubless pipe coupling so <br /> 43 the coupling will bear no weight. Do not provide hangers on couplings. <br /> ' 44 <br /> 45 C. Provide hangers adequate to maintain alignment and to prevent sagging of the pipe. <br /> 46 <br /> 47 D. Make adequate provision to prevent shearing and twisting of the pipe and the joint. <br /> 48 <br /> as E. Provide sway bracing on hangers longer than 18". <br /> 50 <br /> ' 51 F Support vertical piping with riser clamps secured to the piping and resting on the building <br /> 52 structure.
