The work of this section consists of leak testing all pipelines and related valves and fittings.
11 Rejected work shall be retested, and if still rejected shall be repaired or replaced to the
12 satisfaction of the Engineer at the sole cost of the Contractor.
13
14 B. Testing Methods: Gravity piping - low pressure water test; pressure lines, force mains,
15 sodium hypochlorite and bisulfite piping - high pressure water test; air and gas piping - air
16 pressure test.
17
18 1.02 QUALITY ASSURANCE
' 20 A. Flow meters shall record the actual volume plus or minus 2 percent.
2191
zz B. Air and vacuum test gauges shall be ANSI 640.1, Grade 3A (plus or minus 0.25 percent of
23 full scale accuracy), dial range approximately twice the required test pressure.
24
25 C. Water test gauges shall be ANSI B40.1, Grade 2A (plus or minus 0.5 percent of full scale
' 26 accuracy), dial range approximately twice the required test pressure.
27
28 1.03 SUBMITTALS: In accordance with Section 01300.
2s
30 A. Accuracy certification by approved independent testing laboratories for flow meters and test
31 gauges. Certifications shall be dated no more than 90 days prior to actual system testing.
32
33 B. Prior to testing, provide the following information:
34
35 1. All Tests: Describe precautions that will be taken to protect System equipment that
36 might be damaged under test pressures, and the proposed method for rerouting sewer
37 flows where the system must remain in service.
38
39 2. Air Test: Describe safety devices on air test equipment, and personnel safety
40 precautions during air tests.
41
42 3. High or Low Pressure Water Test: Describe the proposed method for disposal of water
43 used in line testing.
44
45 1.04 PROJECT CONDITIONS
46
47 A. Testing shall not be performed until each system has been flushed or thoroughly cleaned
48 in accordance with procedures in the section that describes pipe line installation.
49
so
TESTING OF PIPELINES
' 050594 01667-1
