Perform testing in the Engineer's presence after backfill and proper compaction of trenches. , <br /> 9 Where lines are installed under roadways and parking areas, perform tests after completion <br /> 10 of final subgrade preparation and prior to application of surface courses. Notify Engineer <br /> 11 at least 48 hours prior to testing. ' <br /> 12 <br /> 13 B. Prepare each section for testing, using adequate bracing; protect system equipment <br /> 14 susceptible to damage by test Pressures; make provision for installation of Agency's , <br /> 15 pressure gauge in parallel with Contractor's gauge, if so requested; and maintain services <br /> 16 where required. <br /> 17 <br /> 18 3.02 TEST PROCEDURE , <br /> 19 <br /> 20 A. After completion of the installations, Contractor shall test all piping and <br /> las herein <br /> 21 specified. The Contractor shall furnish all material, equipment, and Iabor oorrtesting the , <br /> 22 piping systems. <br /> 23 <br /> 24 B. Each system may be tested as a unit or in sections as directed by the Engineer, but each <br /> 25 complete system shall successfully meet the requirements specified herein before <br /> 26 acceptance by the Engineer. <br /> 27 <br /> 28 C. The test shall be made by closing valves or providing bulkheads or plugs and filling the <br /> 29 pipe lines with water, provision having been made for the release of all air in the lines. <br /> 30 Lines may be filled with water sometime before testing for leakage to allow for absorption <br /> 31 of water by pipe or joint material. <br /> 32 <br /> 33 D. In air tested lines the pressure shall be maintained for a period of at least three (3) hours <br /> 34 and no loss of pressure shall be indicated by a pressure gauge in the lines. <br /> 35 <br /> 36 E. Specified pressures or heads of water shall be maintained for the periods of tiLeakage tabulated <br /> 37 below, except where indicated to be air or vacuum, and the leakage determined. Leak <br /> 38 shall not exceed the tabulated values. ' <br /> 39 <br /> 40 <br /> 41 Max.
