Mr. James Barton
' October 31, 2002
average hydraulic gradient of approximately 0.08 feet per foot (ft/ft). This groundwater flow pattern is
consistent with historical monitoring data as shown in Table 3.
' Free-Product Monitoring and Removal from Well MW-3
Marina personnel continued to monitor the condition of the hydrophobic, hydrocarbon-absorbent sock in
' well MW-3 on an approximate bi-weekly basis to assess the need for sock replacement. According to
marina personnel, the sock was not replaced during the Third Quarter 2002 and no free-product was
observed floating on the groundwater surface during the September 25, 2002, monitoring event.
' Third Quarter 2002 Analytical Results
' Groundwater analytical results for the Third Quarter 2002 are summarized on Table 1 and displayed
graphically on Figure 4. TPHd was detected in wells MW-3 and MW-4 at respective concentrations of
380 and 250 micrograms per liter(µg/L). TPHg was reported at a concentration of 56µg/L in the sample
from well MW-3, and was not detected above the reporting limit of 50 µg/L in well MW-4. TPHg and
TPHd were not reported above the method detection limit in the sample from well MW-2.
Comparison to Historical Analytical Results
The concentrations of TPHd reported in wells MW-3 and MW-4 represent a decrease since the last
monitoring event conducted in June 2002. Similarly, the concentration of TPHg reported in well MW-3
Nrepresents a decrease since the last monitoring event.
SECOR plans to conduct the Fourth Quarter 2002 groundwater monitoring event in December 2002.
Please contact us at(925) 299-9300 with any questions or comments.
Sincerely,
SECOR Internatigonnal Incorporated
goran ruce Scarbro R.G. #4931
Project Geologist Managing Principal E O
cc: Mr. James Mills, Wes[rec Marinas
Mr. Mike Infuma, SJCEH r &Rt10ES 45+a4931 ix"9 0
' Attachments:
E
' Table 1 -Historical Groundwater Analytical Data pF CAL`rt
Table 2—Historical Monitoring Well Sounding Data
Table 3 -Historical Lateral Flow Directions and Gradients
Figure 1 -Site Location Map
' Figure 2-Site Plan
Figure 3 -Groundwater Elevation Contour Map—September 25, 2002
Figure 4-Groundwater Chemical Results—September 25, 2002
Appendix A-Hydrologic and Groundwater Sample Field Data Sheets
Appendix B -Laboratory Analytical Reports and Chain-of-Custody Records
' 1:\Tower Park\QMR\2002 QMR\Q32002\.3rd QTR 2002.doc SECOR International Inc.
SECOR Job No.050T.02926 11/1/02 1:56 PM
