Mr.James Barton
August 7,2002
Page 4
• Report and 1999 Annual Review". SECOR submitted k response to the draft revised MRP on May 18,
2000. The final revised MRP was issued on June 19, 2000, which required a feasibility study be
conducted that would evaluate remedial options. SECOR submitted the July 10, 2000 "Feasibility
Study/Remedial Options Evaluation Report" in accordance with the final revised MRP. The feasibility
' study recommended that free phase hydrocarbon removal from well MW-3 using a hydrophobic
hydrocarbon absorbent sock. The RWQCB approved the feasibility study in a letter dated July 31, 2000.
' On September 8, 2000, a hydrophobic hydrocarbon absorbent sock was placed in well MW-3 to assist in
the removal of free product. The hydrocarbon absorbent sock has been successful in removing floating
product in well MW-3. In accordance with the current MRP, socks will be installed and/or changed as
' needed based on the presence of free product in the well.
This report is organized as follows:
' • Status report describing activities conducted during the Second Quarter 2002; and
• A discussion of the quarterly groundwater monitoring procedures and results for the Second Quarter
2002.
ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED DURING THE SECOND QUARTER 2002
' • SECOR met with RWQCB staff and Westrec on May 15, 2002, to discuss the status of the Site and
develop a revised monitoring and reporting program;
N • Groundwater monitoring and sampling was conducted on June 26, 2002; and
' • Marina personnel continued to monitor well MW-3 for the presence of free product.
GROUNDWATER MONITORING
' On June 26, 2002, SECOR sounded five groundwater monitoring wells (MW-1 through MW-5) using an
electronic water-level indicator graduated to 0.01 feet. The depth to groundwater was measured in each
' well and recorded on the water sample data field sheets included in Appendix A. The water-level
indicator was rinsed with deionized water between the sounding of each well to minimize the potential for
cross contamination.
' The sampling plan for the Second Quarter 2002 was in accordance with the revised MRP as shown on the
table below:
' 1 Q2 Q3 Q4
MW-1 NS NS NS NS
MW-2 NS NS TPH /TPHd NS
' MW-3* TPH PHd TPH /TPHd TPH /TPHd TPH PHd
MW4 TPH PHd TPH PHd TPH /TPHd TPH TPHd
MW-5 NS NS NS NS
' *Sample well MW-3 only if no free product is present.
Prior to sampling, wells were purged of approximately three casing volumes of water using a dedicated
disposable PVC bailer. During purging, pH, electrical conductivity, and temperature of the evacuated
[:\Tower Park\QMR\2002 QMR\Q2_2002\2nd QTR 2002.doc SECOR International Inc.
