(AGE) and the May 7, 2009, State Water Resources Control Board Cleanup Fund "5-Year
Review Summary" (Letter) for the above subject site. The EHD also discussed the site with the
Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB).
The Letter recommends the site be considered for closure. The EHD discussed closure of the
site with the CVRWQCB. The EHD previously directed and approved of ozone injection being
limited to the injection wells near MW7. In order to evaluate the site for closure, site
contaminant conditions without remediation must be monitored. Therefore, the EHD
recommends discontinuing operation of the ozone injection system and continuing quarterly
sampling and analysis of water samples from MW7 for total petroleum hydrocarbons as
gasoline (TPH-g), TBA and MTBE. If MTBE, TBA and TPH-g concentrations continue to
decline, all the monitoring wells should be sampled at least once prior to a request far closure.
Also, in preparation for closure, the intermittent detections of TBA must be addressed as well as
the risks of vapor intrusion, gross contamination and direct exposure.
If you have any questions contact me at (209) 468-3449 or Frank Girardi at (209) 953-7868.
Margaret Lagorio, REHS
Program Coordinator
Cc: Jim Barton, CVRWQCB
William Little, Advanced GeoEnviron mental, 837 Shaw Rd., Stockton, CA 95215
