A 20 gallon metal drurn of"Brake Drum Shavings" was observed in the auto shop hazardous waste <br /> storage area with an accurnulation start date of February 26, 2008. According to the auto shop teacher, <br /> the tank of waste oil in thecaged hazardous waste storage area has an accumulation start date of <br /> greater than six months. ccording to the theater teacher, the storage area containing 6 shelves of cans <br /> of waste paint has an accumulation start date of greater than one year. The accumulation start dates for <br /> the following hazardous wastes could not be determined: <br /> Auto Shop - 55 gallon drum of used floor sweep <br /> - 30 gallon white poly drum of unknown waste <br /> - 55 gallon metal drum of waste coolant <br /> - (4) 55 gallon etal drums of unknown waste <br /> - 20 gallon metal drum of unknown waste, labeled "gear lube" <br /> Room 132 - plastic tub of metal waste <br /> - milk jug of metal waste <br /> Room 132, counter of cheinicals, labeled "Discard," including the containers of the following: <br /> - (7) 1 gallon metal cans of spirit fluid - ammonium sulfite <br /> - can of unknown waste - iron & ammonium sulfate <br /> - sodium acetate - 25 Ib. container of sodium acetate, trihydrate <br /> - magnesium o ide - urea <br /> - sodium phosphate - various jars with unknown chemical residue <br /> - sodium bisulfate <br /> Facilities who generate les than 1000 kg of hazardous waste per month and do not exceed 6000 kg of <br /> waste stored on site at any time may store waste on site up to 180 days. Immediately contact a licensed <br /> hazardous waste hauler to dispose of this waste under manifest and submit a copy of the manifests to <br /> the EHD by January 16, 2011. <br /> REPEAT VIOLATION <br /> 52. The modified contingency plan posted at this facility is incomplete and does not include spill control. <br /> At the time of inspection, iti could not be demonstrated (not necessarily documented) that employees <br /> who handle hazardous wa to were properly trained. According to employees, no training has been <br /> conducted. The following information must be posted by a phone: the name and phone number of the <br /> emergency coordinator; location of fire extinguishers, spill control equipment, and if present, fire alarm; <br /> and the phone number of the fire department, unless the facility has a direct alarm. The generator must <br /> ensure that all employees who handle hazardous waste are thoroughly familiar with proper waste <br /> handling and emergency procedures. Immediately post the required information by a phone.
