(Wright) is pleased to provide Veri Built Construction with
this report of activities associated with environmental sampling services at Greystone Station, a
housing subdivision located in Tracy CA.
Background
An aboveground diesel storage tank used by the construction crew was vandalized resulting in a
spill of approximately 200 gallons into a secondary containment box filled with sand with some
subsequent leakage into the near surface soils in the vicinity of the containment box and the tank.
Veri Built's on site staff removed the tank and containment debris and excavated the visibly
contaminated soil and placed all the material between plastic at a remote location at the site. At
that time, Wright contacted the San Joaquin County Public Health Service-Environmental Health
Division (PHS-EHD) of the spill and forwarded the correct notification forms to Veri Built to
complete and submit with their fee for'oversight.
Discussion ,
On July 14,1994, Wright collected soil samples under the direction of Ms. Linda Turkatte of the
PHS-EHD in the areas of the former aboveground diesel tank and the stockpile location. The
samples were analyzed for Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Diesel (TPHD) by method 8015 and
Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, and Xylene (BTEX) by method 8020 at Priority;Environmental
Lab in Milpitas, CA, a state certified laboratory. Sample DT-1 was collected from approximately
5 feet below ground surface in the former tank area and sample SP-1 was collected from
approximately 3.5 feet belowground surface (Figure 1). Analytical results of the samples
indicate there were no detectable concentrations remaining in the soil from the former tank or
stockpile areas. A total of 89.25 tons of excavated and stockpiled soils have been disposed of at
Waste Management Inc., Altamont landfill (profile #368702).
Recommendations
There is no further action recommended at the Greystone Station site regarding the above ground
diesel spill.
If you have any questions, please call our Tracy office at (209) 833-0758.
i iWright Environmental Services, Inc.
Lester Messina
Project Manager
enclosures: Figure 1, Figure 2, Chemical Analytical Data, Waste Disposal Receipts
cc: Steve Surano, Greystone Homes, Inc.
Ms. Linda Turkatte, San Joaquin County, PHS-EHD
4220 Commercial Dr. #5 • Tracy, California 95376 `a
Telephone (209) 833-0758 • Fax(209) 832-5152
