Van Bobber Property
2480 North Tracy Blvd, Tracy, California February 23, 1996
Phase II-Report of Findings #3 Page. 2
' Xylene) and Oil and Grease contamination. Oil and Grease contamination was confirmed,
although BTEX compounds tested "None Detected("ND").
Three weeks later on October 16, 1995, four (4) additional samples were taken after the
proposed area was excavated Mr. Riley, a building contractor, conducted the excavation
process. Two (2) floor samples were taken, F-1@3' and F-2@2', and two (2) composite
samples, SP-1 and SP-2, were taken from the spoils pile. All samples had detectable levels of
Oil and Grease.
On November 6, 1995, five (5) separate hand borings, HB-3@5', HB-4@5', HB-5@5',
' HB-6@5' and HB-7@5', were conducted to a depth of approximately five (5) feet b.g.l.
These laboratory samples were taken for identification of any detectable concentrations of
Motor Oil. All samples had minor detections of Motor Oil.
1
Soil Sampling Procedure
All soil samples were taken with a hand operated drive hammer and spoon with a single V
by 6" brass liner. Each sample was taken from two (2) feet into the spoils pile. The
' laboratory samples did not have any head space and were immediately sealed in their liners
using aluminum foil-lined plastic caps. All soil samples were then labeled, placed in air-
tight plastic bags and immediately chilled in an ice chest with Blue Ice®. All soil sampling
equipment was thoroughly washed with TSP (tri-sodium phosphate) and rinsed with clean
water before and between sampling to prevent any cross-contamination.
The samples were picked up by laboratory personnel for transport to their State-certified
laboratory, California Laboratory Services, Inc., in Rancho Cordova, California for
' "standard turn-around time" analyses . Samples SP-3, SP-4, SP-5, SP-6 and SP-7 were
analyzed using EPA method 8015 for TEPH as Motor Oil, Gasoline, and Diesel, EPA
Method 6010/STLC for Metals, Method 6010/TTLC for Metals, EPA Method 5520 D/F
' for Oil and Grease, EPA Method 8010 for Halogenated Volatile Organics, EPA Method
8020 for Aromatic Volatile Organics and EPA Method 8270 for Semivolatile Organic
Compounds (Tables 1 and attached pages). Chain of Custody records were maintained at
' all times.
Soil Disposal
Approximately 121 c.y. of contaminated soils were shipped under manifests and received
for disposal by Forward Landfill, Inc, Stockton, California(manifests attached).
