I
' 02 February 2000
i AGE-NC Project No 97-0249
' at the site increased an average 2 76 feet between the August and the November 1999 ground water
monitoring events The ground water elevation data for MW-1 through MW-6 during the November
1999 ground water monitoring event is depicted in Figure 3
' Ground water flow direction for the area bound by wells MW-1 through MW-6 was generally toward
the east at a gradient of 0 0009 ft/ft, or approximately 5 feet per mile (Figure 3),
Due to the low gradient at the site, slight variations in ground water measurements or changes of
recharge/discharge of the local ground water could greatly modify ground water flow direction
1
3 2 LABORATORY RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
' A total of six ground water samples were submitted to a DHS-certified laboratory In November
P ry
1999 TPH-g was detected in water samples collected from wells MW-1, MW-2, MW-3,MW-5 and
MW-6 at concentrations ranging up to 27,000 micrograms per liter(µg/1), TPH-d was detected in
water samples collected from the same wells at concentrations ranging up to 3,700 µg/I, however,
the laboratory reported that the diesel chromatograms for all the samples, except the sample collected
from MW-5, lacked typical diesel characteristics
BTEX compounds were detected in ground water samples collected from wells MW-1,MW-2,MW-
3,MW-5 and MW-6 at concentrations ranging as high as 5,900µg/l (benzene, MW-3) MTBE was
detected, utilizing EPA Method 8020, in the sample collected from MW-4 at a concentration of 51
µg/1
MTBE was detected in ground water samples collected from wells MW-1,MW-2,MW-4 and MW-6
utilizing EPA Method 8260M at concentrations as high as 57 µg/l No other fuel oxygenates were
detected above laboratory reporting limits
MTBE was not detected in the November or December 1999 samples collected from the domestic
drinking water well located in a southwest section of the site utilizing EPA Method 8260
Analytical results of the ground water samples are summarized in Table 2 The laboratory reports
(Castle Analytical Laboratories Reference No 2622 and McCampbell Analytical Inc I D No 24614,
26281 through 26287 and 27376) and chain-of-custody forms are presented in Appendix B
4.0. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
Based upon data collected during the November 1999 monitoring, AGE concludes
Advanced GcoEnvironmental,Inc
