QX-90-1 OF CLAUDE C . WOOD COMPANY <br /> ---------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> This is a preapplication for a quarry excavation to excavate <br /> approximately 2 . 4 million tons of rock, sand, and gravel from a <br /> 120-acre portion of a 254-acre parcel . The project is ten- <br /> tatively scheduled to be implemented in three phases over a five- <br /> year period, with ongoing rehabilitation to be completed two <br /> years after the end of the excavation. <br /> The Planning Division has reviewed the preapplication and offers <br /> the following comments : <br /> Williamson Act : <br /> 1 . The proposed use is not contained within the list of per- <br /> mitted uses for property under Williamson Act Contract <br /> (Section 9-2352 (a) of the Planning Title) . <br /> 2 . In order to proceed with the application, the owner of the <br /> property or a designated agent must initiate action to cancel <br /> the Williamson Act Contract , in accordance with Section <br /> 9-2360 of the Planning Title. <br /> Prime Farmland: <br /> 1 . The Planning Title permits quarry excavations in the AG zone <br /> if either the soil is not classified as prime or the selling <br /> price of the quarried resource exceeds $5 , 000 , 000 . 00 in 1978 <br /> equivalent dollars (Section 9-2241 ) . <br /> 2 . The project site ' s soil , Vina fine sandy loam, is designated <br /> as prime by the Soil Conservation Service . Information con- <br /> tained in the application indicates that the value of the <br /> mined material totals only $360, 000 . 00 . Based on that infor- <br /> mation, the proposed use is not permitted at this site . <br />
