7.0 RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SHORT-TERM USE AND LONG TERM
PRODUCTIVITY
Present use of land in the project arca is agricultural. This use would be
temporarily lost (10 years) by development of the project, since the area would be
returned to agricultural use following project site reclamation. Additionally, the project
could reduce the value of the project site and surrounding land as wildlife habitat to
some degree.
Short term use of natural resources would result from project development. The
project would utilize aggregate resources that are essentially non-renewable in this area
with the advent of flood control measures. Existing known high quality aggregate
reserves in the San Joaquin County area expected to be exhausted by the year 2004.
This project would be compatible with the County's objective to provide for production
of extractive resources, but would be incompatible with the existing residential and
commercial uses and residentially zoned areas within the town of Clements.
1I4,
