Although no archaeological or historical sites are known to
exist on the parcel , a survey of the site, especially near
the Mokelumne River , will have to be conducted to verify this
information ( Item No . 9 ) .
G . Aesthetics :
The view from Clements of this area and the Mokelumne River
beyond it will be temporarily altered by the project . While
an ongoing rehabilitation program will return portions of the
site to agricultural uses following excavation, the entire
site will not be rehabilitated until approximately one year
after the proposed ten-year excavation. The site is located
adjacent to both existing and proposed commercial and resi-
dential uses .
H . Land Use :
While the proposed industrial/extractive use is consistent
with the site ' s existing and proposed Draft General Plan
designation and zone classifications , it represents a poten-
tial conflict with adjacent residential and commercial uses .
An additional potential conflict exists with a planned resi-
dential development on a 20-acre parcel (APN 019-220-18 )
immediately south of the excavation site ( Items No . 11 and
12 (b) ) .
The parcel has not been identified as a natural or recreation
area and, therefore , is not subject to disruption by this
project . In the event , though, that the project ultimately
includes a public park or the establishment of riparian habi-
tat , as discussed in Items No . 1 (c ) and 3 (a) of the Initial
Study, consideration must be given to public use , access ,
circulation, facilities development , and land use com-
patibility ( Item No . 12 ( c ) ) .
PLEASE REFER TO THE ATTACHED INITIAL STUDY FOR ADDITIONAL
INFORMATION ON THE IMPACTS NOTED HEREIN .
REVIEW AND COMMENT PERIOD :
Written comments must be returned within the 30-day review period
noted below:
Review Begins : January 30 , 1990
Review Ends March 2 , 1990
LEAD AGENCY:
San Joaquin County Planning Division
1810 East Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, CA 95205
Contact Person: Richard Larrouy, Associate Planner
Phone Number ( 209 ) 468-3142
Notice of Preparation - 3 - (ER-90-8 )
