0 <br /> DRAFT <br /> Soil Contamination Containment Action P1 an <br /> December 19, 1997 <br /> The Department of Public Works has established the Soil Contaminati n Containment Action <br /> Plan (SCCAP) for Thornton Drainage Project, Phase 5. The SCCAP s ryes as a safety measure <br /> for contractor working within the trench area in handling Class II - "Designated Waste". <br /> 1. Observe soil for petroleum odor and dark bluish discoloration. If such material is found, <br /> the material shall be removed from work area. <br /> 2. Report the finding to the Engineer immediately. <br /> 3. Engineer shall place Low Explosive Limit Meter inside the wo king area for gas detection <br /> and take proper action to stop work if the meter alarm sets off. <br /> 4. Engineer shall collect sample in a self sampling container and 1 abel the location, trench <br /> depth,time, date and name. Then the Engineer shall deliver container to the Stockton <br /> FGL Laboratory office for BTEX and Gas tests and submit the San Joaquin County <br /> Purchase Order authorizing the work. <br /> 5. Engineer shall make record on file and report the finding to Mary Mayes at Public Health <br /> Services- SJC, telephone number(209) 468-0337. <br /> 6. Engineer shall direct contractor to place contaminated material at a designated area: <br /> 1) east end of Stockton Street, 2) northeast corner of Walnut Grove Road and Oak Road <br /> and 3) southwest corner of Lower Sacramento Road and Pine I oad. <br /> 7. Contractor shall place contaminated material on and cover it w th plastic. Then rope off <br /> the area as part of requirements. <br /> 8. Contractor shall replace contaminated material with clean natiA a soil. Do not over <br /> excavate the trench area other than as designated on plan or dim cted by the Engineer. <br /> 9. Engineer shall determine the remediation or disposal method o F the contaminated <br /> material. <br /> FE-XIN.G1 <br />
