The Contractor shall furnish all necessary swab pumps, <br /> compressors, plungers or other needed equipment and shall develop the <br /> wells by swabbing, airlifting, surging, jetting or other such methods, <br /> approved by the Engineer, that shall give the maximum yield of water per <br /> foot of drawdown, and shall extract from the water-bearing formation the <br /> maximum practical quantity of such sands as may, during the life of the well, <br /> be drawn through the screen when the well is pumped under maximum <br /> conditions of drawdown. Well development shall be accomplished through a <br /> combination of swabbing, pumping, and surging. All equipment shall be <br /> steaRg cleaned prior to being introduced to the well. <br /> ITEM NO. 18 <br /> The paragraph under item "G"of"DEVELOPMENT' described in <br /> DIVISION Ill, Section 9 - "LEWIS MANOR WATER WELL AND NESTED <br /> MONITORING WELL DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION", shown on page 28 is <br /> hereby deleted and amended to read: <br /> G. Water Disposal: The Contractor shall dispose of all testing and development <br /> water without damage to any property, and in accordance with applicable <br /> regulations. The Contractor must provide sand traps for sand control. The <br /> development water could be accepted into the existing West Side Irrigation <br /> District (WSID) drainage canal via the existing waste pipe, upon approval of <br /> WSID, and the payment of an estimated permit fee of$500. The Contractor <br /> shall make all of the necessary arrangements with WSID. Development <br /> water shall be clear of sand, silt and sediment prior to entering the waste <br /> pipe. It will be the Contractor's responsibility to provide whatever means <br /> necessary for the creation of a settling basin. <br /> ITEM NO. 19 <br /> The paragraph under "Destruction of the Corporation Yard Well"described <br /> in DIVISION 111, Section 10 - "DESTRUCTION OF THE EXISTING LEWIS <br /> MANOR, BALLPARK, AND CORPORATION YARD WELLS", shown on page <br /> 35 is hereby amended to read: <br /> The existing pump, which is stuck in the casing, shall be removed by the <br /> Contractor prior to abandoning the well, and in a manner approved the <br /> Department of Water Resources and in conformance with the requirements of <br /> Bulletin 74. For bidding purposes, the amount of effort to remove the pump is <br /> estimated as one working day. The total well depth is approximately 990 feet <br /> with the screened intervals unknown. <br /> ITEM NO. 20 <br /> The last paragraph under "Demolition of the Corporation Yard Well Pump <br /> House"described in DIVISION 111, Section 11 - "DEMOLITION OF THE <br /> EXISTING LEWIS MANOR AND CORPORATION YARD PUMP HOUSES", <br /> shown on page 37 is hereby amended to read. <br />
