' 1.0 Introduction <br /> 4n behalf of SBC for <br />' { merly Pacific Bell), Shaw Environmental, Inc (Shaw) has developed this <br /> Site Conceptual Model (SCM) to describe the petroleum hydrocarbon release source, possible <br /> preferential petroleum hydrocarbon migration pathways, and potential receptors of petroleum <br />' hydrocarbons at the SBC facility located at 10 East 12"' Street in Tracy, California (Figure 1 <br /> g ) <br /> The report was prepared in accordance with American Society of Testing Materials (ASTM) <br />' Standard Guide for Developing Site Conceptual Models for Contaminated Saes, E1689-95 This <br /> report was prepared at the request of the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department <br />' (SJCEHD) in a letter dated February 14, 2003 A copy of the letter is included in Appendix A <br /> 1.1 Site Description <br /> The SBC facility occupies approximately 0 8 acres and is located in predominately residential and <br /> commercial part of Tracy, California Site photographs are included in Appendix B Prominent <br /> features include a one- to two-story building housing telecommunications switching equipment <br /> and offices on the western and southern portion of the site (Photograph 1) In September 2002, a <br /> two-story addition to the building was constructed on the southern portion of the site to house <br /> additional telecommunication equipment and offices There is an 8,000-gallon underground <br />'. storage tank (UST) containing diesel fuel for an emergency backup generator, installed in 2002, <br /> located north of the new addition (Photograph 2) The remainder of the site is paved with asphalt <br />' and used for the parking of SBC fleet vehicles (Figure 2) Groundwater has been encountered in <br /> tank removal and soil boring investigations at depths ranging from 11 feet to 14 feet below <br />' surface grade (bsg) Various information in Section 1 4 suggests groundwater flow may be to the <br /> north or northeast <br />' The site property is inset by a small house (approximately 50 by 100 feet) and single-family <br /> residence, accessed from East 12`h Street <br /> 1 <br /> North of the site is East 12`h Street, with residential properties further to the north (Photograph <br /> I3) West of the site is Holly Street, with commercial properties further to the west (Photograph <br /> 4) East of the site is El Portal Street, with commercial and residential properties further east <br /> (Photograph 5) South of the site are commercial properties (Photograph 6) <br /> • <br />' CNCD104-28-031S1iARE\U8T03-0027 doc 1 <br />
