Soil boring PB-SB-4 was performed along the western wall of the former UST excavation to a
depth of 16 feet bsg The remaining three borings were performed further from the former UST
excavation to a depth of 16 feet bsg
' A hydropunch was advanced to a depth of 16 feet bsg in order to collect groundwater samples
The drive casing was withdrawn, exposing the screen interval, between 12 feet and 16 feet bsg
' Grab groundwater samples were collected from each hydropunch using a stainless steel bailer
Before collecting each sample, the bailer was decontaminated using a non-phosphate detergent
' wash, followed by a methanol rinse and a final water rinse
' Undisturbed continuous soil samples were collected to a depth of 16 feet bsg from each soil
boring The samples were collected using a direct-push sampler lined with 4-foot long acetate
sleeves The samples were used for lithological evaluation An intact 6-inch selection of sample
' was taken from 10 feet bsg in each of the four borings and used for laboratory analysis
' Soil samples selected for laboratory analysis were sealed with teflon tape and end caps The
samples were then appropriately labeled and placed in an insulated chest with ice pending
' transport to the laboratory Sample collection, handling, and transport were documented using
chain of custody procedures A copy of the chain of custody is included in Appendix D
' In order to minimize the potential for cross contamination between borings, the down hole
equipment was washed after each boring
' Groundwater was encountered in the borings at approximately 1 i to 14 feet bsg Upon
completing each boring, a temporary L-inch diameter well casing was set into the borings and
' grab groundwater samples were collected via a stainless steel bailer The bailer was
decontaminated before collecting each sample using a non-phosphate detergent followed by a
' methanol rinse and a final water rinse After collecting the grab groundwater samples, the
temporary well casings were removed and the borings were then filled to 1-foot bsg with a
concrete slurry The remaining foot was then filled to surface grade with native soil Copies of
the boring logs are included in Appendix C
No petroleum odors or stained soils were encountered during boring advancement or soil sample
collection activities In general, native soil consisted of a tan lean clay throughout each boring
CNCD111_20-0210 SHARPIUSD02-0086 doc 3
1
